Hassleback potatoes are one of my favorite side dishes I always order to eat them at restaurants. The moment I knew they can be perfectly cooked in an air fryer I couldn’t resist and had to try. So, thought of sharing it with you guys.
Air fryer Hasselback potatoes are perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, soft, and packed with flavor on the inside. They are absolute love for potato lovers like me. The ingredients are minimal and super easy to cook even for a beginner.
These air-fried Hasselback potatoes are healthier than the deep-fried Hasselback potatoes that we generally order from restaurants. I highly recommend you try this recipe and enjoy them. Hasselback potatoes are a type of baked potato cut interestingly. They are cut halfway through giving a structure like a fan. Hasselback potatoes are perfectly seasoned and served as a side dish or main course.
How to cut the perfect Hasselback Potatoes?
The tricky part of making Hasselback potatoes is to cut them perfectly. And I know most of us will fail several times and go all the way through the potato while cutting them.
However, I have a very useful hack to cut your Hasselback potatoes perfectly. Take a pair of wooden chopsticks/wooden spoons and place the chopsticks parallelly then place the potato in the middle. Now glide the knife through the potato and the knife will hit the edges of the chopsticks which prevents it from going all the way through the potato.

How to make air fryer Hasselback Potatoes?
Hassleback potatoes are super easy to make in an air fryer. The only tricky part of this recipe is to cut them perfectly. Now let’s assemble the ingredients to make these super crispy and delicious air fryer Hasselback potatoes.
Ingredients for air fryer Hasselback potatoes:
- 2 medium potatoes
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 2 garlic cloves (thinly sliced)
- Mozzarella cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (chopped)
Instructions for air fryer Hasselback potatoes:
- Thoroughly wash the potatoes in clean water. You can cook them with skin on or peel the skin off according to your liking.
- Now carefully cut the potatoes by following the simple hack I discussed above in the blog.
- And carefully insert the thinly sliced garlic cloves in between the potato slices.
- Take a small mixing bowl with melted butter, garlic powder, mixed herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix them until well combined.
- After that take a brush to apply the mixture to the potatoes. While applying the mixture make sure that every potato slice is greased.
- Preheat your air fryer at 200C/400F for 5 minutes.
- Now carefully transfer the seasoned potatoes into the basket. Cook at 200C/400F for 20 minutes or until tender. Halfway through the cooking process open the basket and apply the remaining mixture to the potatoes.
- Remove the air fryer Hasselback potatoes and sprinkle mozzarella cheese and freshly chopped parsley.
- Serve and enjoy!
