Making these chewy and soft pretzels bites is simple, easy, and quick.
Ingredients for air fryer pretzel bites:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 1 cup of warm water
Egg Wash:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon water
Soda Bath
- 10 cups water
- ⅔ cup baking soda
Instructions for air fryer pretzel bites
- Warm water, salt, and sugar should be combined in a large mixing bowl. Stir them together until the salt and sugar are completely dissolved. After that, stir in the dry yeast and set aside for 5 minutes.
- Now combine the yeast solution with the melted butter and all-purpose flour. Stir them together with a spoon or a dough whisk until the ball forms.
- Transfer the dough to a working surface and knead until smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add 1 tablespoon of flour at a time and knead the dough until it forms a soft ball.
- Place the pretzel dough in a well-greased bowl and cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rest for an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Lightly flour the working surface, place the dough and divide into 6-7 equal pieces.
- Roll each dough into a long rope shape and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
- Take a large pot add 10 cups of water and add baking soda into the water and bring to a boil.
- Drop 9-10 pretzel bites at a time into the boiling water for 15-20 seconds.
- Remove the pretzel bites from the soda bath and place them on a plate.
- Prepare the egg wash. Mix the egg yolk and one tablespoon of water until combined.
- Brush the tops of the pretzel bites with the egg wash and then sprinkle with sugar.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200C/400F for 2-3 minutes.
- Place the pretzel bites into the air fryer basket in a single layer, do not overcrowd the basket.
- Cook the pretzel bites at 200C/400F for 5-6 minutes or until lightly brown on top.
- Remove the air fryer pretzel bites and serve them with cheese sauce.
