While making air fryer chicken and broccoli recipe this morning my kitchen was filled with its aroma. The chicken is super juicy, with the crispy broccoli and the savory flavor of onion is just insane. Plus the nutty flavor of sesame oil does the magic in this recipe.
If you haven’t tried this recipe I would definitely recommend this healthy and tasty air fried chicken and broccoli stir fry. Chicken and broccoli cook super quickly and need less preparation. So, you can easily make your dinner or lunch in under 30 minutes.

How to make chicken and broccoli in air fryer?
As I have already how insanely delicious air fryer chicken thighs and broccoli are. If you are wondering why I have mentioned chicken thighs because I’ve used chicken thighs instead of chicken breast in the recipe. So, without wasting our time let’s move to our recipe ingredients and the step-by-step process of cooking.
Ingredients of air fryer chicken and broccoli:
- 500gm chicken thighs (or chicken breast)
- 1 medium head of broccoli
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 ½ tablespoons dark soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Instructions for air fryer chicken and broccoli:
- Take a small mixing bowl to add vegetable oil, sesame oil, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix them until well combined.
- Now take a large mixing bowl to add chicken and drizzle approximately ¾ part of the oil mixture, minced ginger, and garlic.
- Give them a stir until well combined.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200C/400F for 5 minutes.
- Place the chicken thighs into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook them at 200C/400F until the chicken is almost halfway done. It takes about 10 minutes.
- While the chicken is cooking let’s season the broccoli florets and onion.
- Take a bowl to add broccoli, onions, and the oil mixture. Mix them until well combined.
- After 10 minutes stir the chicken with the help of a spatula and add the seasoned broccoli and onions.
- Cook them further for about 10-15 minutes. Stir them halfway through the cooking process.
- Remove the chicken and broccoli from the air fryer basket.
- Serve and enjoy.
Note: I haven’t cooked the chicken and broccoli together to prevent the vegetables to overcook or burning.

How to know if the chicken is cooked?
If you have a meat thermometer you can simply insert it into a chicken piece to check if the chicken is cooked. The internal temperature of the chicken should hit 165F/75C to know it’s cooked.
Or you can simply cut the chicken piece in the middle and see if the chicken is cooked. The cooked chicken color is white to pink to tan.
