It has been everyone's favorite, so I also enjoy preparing air fryer toasted walnuts to add to my party table and cheeseboards. The candied walnuts go well with ice cream, as a quick snack, and as a salad topping.

Since I began making candied walnuts at home using an air fryer, I have stopped buying them. Almonds can definitely be roasted in an air fryer if you want to experiment with roasting any other nuts. They are quite flavorful and crunchy when they are done.

Variations

While preparing any recipe, you can always change the spices or flavors depending on your liking. Here are some recipe alterations you could give a shot at

  • Other nuts, such as almonds or pecans, can be used in place of the walnuts in this recipe.
  • Chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds can be substituted for nuts to create a nut-free version.
  • For this dish, you can either use melted butter or refined coconut oil.
  • Use any sweetener, such as brown or white sugar (honey, maple syrup, agave nectar). Any one of them can be used in the recipe.
  • Other spices, such as ground nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice, can be used in place of the cinnamon powder.

Tips:

  • For the best results, always preheat the air fryer before using it to cook any type of food.
  • To prevent the basket from sticking and for simple cleanup, line it with parchment paper.
  • For the best results, try to place the walnuts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. If necessary, cook in batches.
  • For evenly baked results, toss the candied walnuts halfway through the cooking process.
  • Before serving, let the air fryer candied walnuts cool completely. Cooled candied walnuts become more crunchy.

How long are candied walnuts good for?

Storage Instruction:

The extra candied nuts are simple to store for up to 2 weeks at room temperature in an airtight jar.

Place the container in the refrigerator if you want to keep them for a longer period of time. They last for three to 4 weeks.

They can also be kept for up to 2 months in the freezer. The candied nuts should be placed in a freezer-safe container and stored in the freezer.

Here are some of the frequently asked questions:

How do you keep the walnuts from sticking?

If any sweetener (honey or corn syrup) is used, walnuts have a chance to stick. Let the candied nuts cool fully if they are sticking together. You can easily break them apart after they have cooled.

Why are my candied walnuts soft?

If the air fryer basket was crowded while cooking, the candied nuts might become soft. If the nuts are overcrowded in the basket, they begin to steam and lose their crunch. For the best result, try to place the nuts in a single layer.

You can, however, re-fry those walnuts in the air fryer and bake them in batches. They'll eventually turn crispy.

Do air fryer candied walnuts go bad?

Yes, after a certain amount of time, they do eventually go bad. It all depends on how and where they are kept.

The nuts can be kept for 2 weeks at room temperature if they are placed in an airtight container.

They last for 4 weeks if you store them in the refrigerator.

Furthermore, they are safe to eat for 2 months if you have frozen them.

How can you give candied nuts as a gift?

When it comes to giving gifts to family and friends, air fryer candied walnuts are fantastic. All you need to do to prepare your gift is to place the nuts in a mason jar and add a beautiful ribbon. These presents are perfect for special occasions like Christmas.
