Ingredients for making air fryer chocolate chip cookies
- 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
Instructions
- First, I always like to start with wet ingredients. So, melt the butter in a microwave for 15 seconds.
- Transfer it into a large mixing bowl and add both the sugar and butter beat for a minute or two until the creamy and fluffy texture. Add vanilla extract, and egg, and beat it again until they are combined.
- After all the wet ingredients are done now it’s time to add your dry ingredients. Add all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt, and mix until they combine. Add it to the wet ingredients and fold until combined.

- Air fryer chocolate chip cookies dough should look like this as shown in the picture below.
- Now, preheat your air fryer at 160C/320F for 5 minutes. Preheating the air fryer provides the cookie dough a hot platform that helps to cook the cookies evenly and fast.
- Meanwhile, the air fryer is heating, you start shaping the dough for cookies. Divide the cookie dough into the equal potion and gently roll it into a ball and place it in the working space. Flatten the ball with your hand and make a flat disc the disc should be ½ inches thick.
- Place the chocolate chip cookie dough in the air fryer basket in a single layer leaving enough space between the cookies. You can also use parchment paper.
- Bake the cookies at 160C/320F for 12 minutes.
- Remove the chocolate chip cookies from the air fryer and let them cool before your serve.

Tips for making air fryer chocolate chip cookies:
- Melt the butter before using but don’t use hot butter. Let it cool if you’ve heated the butter for a few seconds before beating because hot butter doesn’t give the creamy texture.
- You need to flatten the cookie dough before baking it in the air fryer. Because the air fryer works differently than the oven.
- If you prefer gluten-free cookies, replace the flour with a gluten-free flour such as oat flour, almond flour, coconut flour, and cornflour. You should add a tablespoon of butter to the batter and refrigerate the dough for an hour before baking.
- Leave enough space between the cookies for the best result.
- The air fryer chocolate chip cookies dough might get stuck on the basket-like shown in the picture below if you're not using parchment paper. But you can take that off easily by scratching the bottom of the air fryer.
Storage
- You can store the baked cookies in an air-tight container at room temperature for 3-4 days.
- You can even store the leftover dough in the freeze by putting the dough in a zip-lock bag. You need to defrost the dough in the refrigerator before baking it in the air fryer.
Here are some of the frequently asked questions.
Why use room temperature egg?
Room temperature egg is used in this recipe because they mix better in the batter.
How long to cook chocolate chip cookies in air fryer?
The air fryer chocolate chip cookies cook time is 12-15 minutes at 160C/320F. The cooking time may vary according to the thickness and type of air fryer you use. You can adjust the time accordingly.
How to reheat the cookies?
Reheating the air fryer chocolate chip cookies is insanely easy. Just place the leftover cookies in the air fryer basket at 160C/320F for 3-4 minutes or until the cookies are warm.

Your chocolate chip cookies get hard because the dough is overdone. If you mix the batter more after adding the flour the gluten is formed. This is the reason for the hard cookies.
How can I make my cookies fluffier instead of flat?
For making fluffier cookies the butter should not be too hot or frozen while mixing. It should be just melted which gives you the creamy texture while beating.
Put the dough in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes before baking for fluffy cookies.
Can I use parchment paper and aluminum foil in air fryer?
Yes, you can use parchment paper and aluminum foil in the air fryer. For baking, I recommend you use parchment paper that has a hole in it.
This helps in circulating the hot air in the air fryer evenly rather than aluminum foil. Check with the manual of your air fryer before using any of these.
