How to make air fryer apple pie?
First, let’s start with the easiest method. Air fryer apple pie puff pastry.
Ingredients:
- 1 package of Pie crust/puff pastry
- ½ can apple pie filling
- 3 tablespoons sugar brown/regular
- 1 egg
- Water
Instruction for air fryer apple pie puff pastry:
- Take a small bowl, crack an egg and whisk together with some splash of water and set aside.
- Remove the puff pastry from the packaging and spread it on the working space. Cut the puff pastry with a cookie cutter into 5-inch circles.
- Put 2 slices of apples each from apple pie filling onto the bottom half of the circle. Use water to wet the edges of the puff pastry with the help of your fingertip. Now fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges creating a half-moon. Crease the edges with the help of a fork to seal.
- Now brush the pies with the egg wash all over the tops. Sprinkle some sugar on top.
- Preheat your air fryer at 160C/320F for 5 minutes.
- Place the apple pie in the air fryer basket and cook at 160C/320F for 10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown or cooked through. Flip the air fryer apple pie halfway through the cooking process. Repeat with the remaining.
- Remove the apple pie and serve with your favorite dipping.
Ingredients for Air fryer apple pie from scratch:
- 1 ½ cup self-rising flour
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
Ingredients for apple pie fillings:
- 3-4 apples
- ½ teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
Instructions:
Let’s make the dough first.
- Take a small bowl to beat the egg for dough and egg wash and set aside.
- Now take a large mixing bowl, add butter, flour and mix them well. After that add the sugar, vanilla extract, ⅔ of egg, and a pinch of salt. Knead the ingredients to form a consistent dough. Cove the dough and set it aside.
- Your dough should look somewhat like this as shown in the picture.
- After that let’s prepare the air fryer apple pie filling. For that peel the apples and cut them into thin slices.
- Take a sauté pan melt the butter then add apples, cinnamon, lemon juice, and sugar. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes or until apples are soft. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Now take a clean working station, flour the surface and roll out the dough in approximately 7-8 inch-diameter circles. Place one dough into the bottom of the pie plate and gently press it down.
- Then pour the pie filling top with the second dough and trim excess edges. Cut a few slits on the top of the pie to release steam while cooking.
- Brush it with the egg on top of the pie dough. Sprinkle a dash of sugar on top and place it in the basket.
- Cook the air fryer apple pie at 160C/320F for 30-35 minutes. Check halfway through the cooking process.
- Remove, serve and enjoy.
