Ingredients for onion rings in air fryer:
- 2 large onions
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 3-4 tablespoons oil (any)
- 2-3 mozzarella cheese slices
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions for making onion rings in air fryer:
- First, let’s start by slicing the cheese. I’ve taken 3 slices and further sliced them into small slices approximately ½ inch thick and set them aside.
- Next, we’ll chop the onions. Peel off the onion first and chop off both ends of the onion. Then slice the onions ½ inch thick.
- After that separate, each onion rings out.
- After that arrange the onion rings according to the width difference so that we can fit in the cheese slices.
- Now just place the cheese slices into the gaps. Continue the process for all the onions.
- Take a bowl to transfer the flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper mix, and set it aside.
- Take another bowl beat the eggs and set it aside, the final bowl for the breadcrumbs. Remember all these should go in separate bowls.
- Now take one onion ring at a time, roll it into the flour, tap out the excess, dip it into the egg batter, and straight into the bread crumbs. Repeat the process twice and try to make a thick coat so that cheese won’t leak while air frying.
- Meanwhile, prepare the onion rings and preheat your air fryer to 180C/355F for 2-3 minutes.
- Spray/brush a thin layer of oil in the air fryer basket, and transfer the coated onion rings into the basket. And spray/brush the oil over the onion rings.
- Cook them for 15 minutes at 180C/355F and flip them halfway through the cooking process.
- Remove the crispy air fryer onion rings and serve them with your favorite dipping sauce.
