Do you love fried cheese? Then you’re going to love the air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks even more. The best way to cook frozen mozzarella sticks is to cook in an air fryer. Air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks are so good and crunchy this is my favorite everyday snack.

Today I’m going to share how to cook air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks and how to make them better. Some tips to make your regular mozzarella sticks more interesting. To know the method, tricks, and tips keep on reading.

Mozzarella cheese sticks are a classic appetizer made by sticks of mozzarella cheese coated with seasoned Italian breadcrumbs and kept in the freezer.
You can deep fry the frozen mozzarella sticks but the best way to cook frozen mozzarella sticks is to air fry them. Air-fried frozen mozzarella sticks are less greasy than deep-fried ones.

 

How to cook frozen mozzarella sticks in air fryer?

Making the air fryer frozen mozzarella sticks recipe is simple and easy. The end result is simply awesome so let’s start.

Preheat your air fryer at 390F degrees for 5 minutes. This allows your air fryer to cook frozen food evenly.

Put the frozen mozzarella sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You can also use a thin layer of nonstick oil spray on the basket because it helps with clean-up later if the cheese oozes out. But this step is totally optional.

Cook for 10-12 minutes at 390F/200C and toss them gently halfway through the cooking process.

Allow the frozen mozzarella sticks to cool for 1-2 minutes and serve them with your favorite dipping sauce.

How long do you air fry mozzarella sticks for?

The standard air fryer cook time for frozen mozzarella sticks is 10-12 minutes. This was the best time for me as I use Philips air fryer.

The timing may vary according to the air fryer brand you use, the frozen mozzarella sticks brand you use(thick), and depends on how crispy you want.

 

How do you know when mozzarella sticks are done?

Once the mozzarella sticks are halfway open the basket, carefully pick one stick and squeeze it gently. (they’re hot don’t burn your fingers)

If they’re soft and tender it done cooking. If they are a little hard to squeeze cook them for another minute and check them again.

This way you know if the mozzarella sticks are done.

 

How do you make mozzarella sticks from scratch?

Not everyone loves to eat frozen food, so  I also have the recipe to make mozzarella sticks from scratch. Let’s have a look at what ingredients are needed.
Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt/ to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (any)
  • 6-8 mozzarella sticks

Instructions

  1. Mix the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Crack the egg in the next shallow bowl and whisk.mozzarella sticks from scratch
  2. Wash the mozzarella sticks into the beaten egg and coat them in a mixture of breadcrumbs and seasoning. It’ll be a little messy but the end result is worth it.
  3. After you finish coating the mozzarella sticks freeze for 1 hour.
  4. Coat the mozzarella sticks again repeating the same steps and freeze them for ½ hour. Now the mozzarella sticks are ready to cook.mozzarella sticks
  5. Preheat your air fryer at 390F/200C degrees for 5 minutes.
  6. Use nonstick spray oil on the air fryer basket and put the mozzarella sticks in a single layer don’t overcrowd the basket.
  7. Cook them at 390F/200C degrees for 10 minutes or till they are golden and crispy.Air fryer mozzarella sticks
  8. Allow them to sit for a minute or two and serve with the dipping sauce.

Note: Double coating will restrict the cheese from spilling out during the cooking process.

You can skip the oil part it’s an optional process to avoid sticking the cheese if it oozes out, and it’s easy to clean up later.

 

Tips for Air fryer frozen Mozzarella Sticks.

  • Use the nonstick spray oil on the basket to prevent sticking and the mozzarella sticks are extra crispy with the help of the oil.
  • Double coat the mozzarella sticks to prevent spilling. (for homemade)
  • If you’re making mozzarella sticks from scratch freeze them completely before are frying.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket, always work in batches for the best result.
  • Don’t overcook the frozen mozzarella sticks because the cheese spills out.
