These air fryer apple fritters made in an air fryer are flavorful, healthy, and delicious. Apple fritters have a lot of apples and a rich cinnamon flavor. Apple fritters can be enjoyed as a quick breakfast, a snack, or a healthy dessert.

These classic apple fritters can be made at home and are better than those bought from a doughnut shop. I felt nostalgic when I was making these apple fritters. When my mother and I used to visit the doughnut store, I recalled how I would always request this apple fritters treat.

Now that you have an air fryer, you can treat yourself whenever you want with homemade apple fritters. Plus, compared to deep-fried apple fritters, air-fried apple fritters are healthier. Similarly, corn fritters and banana fritters, both of which can be made in the air fryer with ease, are defiantly worth a try if you enjoy creating

What is an apple fritter?

Apple fritters are made with pieces of apples mixed with batter and deep-fried. Topped with a glaze of honey or dusted with powdered sugar and served.

However, the air-fried apple fritters are way healthier because it is not dunked into the oil to cook. They are simply air-fried and are the healthier version.

How to make air fryer apple fritters?

Making apple fritters is simple and requires the ingredients that are mostly available in your pantry. You just need to gather them and start making a sweet treat for yourself and your family.

Ingredients for apple fritters:

  • 2 apples (peeled, cored, and dice)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • ⅓ cup milk/water
  • 2 tablespoons butter/oil
  • 2 tablespoon yogurt

Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder

Instructions for apple fritters:

  1. Peel the apple remove the core and dice them finely.
  2. Take a mixing bowl to add all the dry ingredients flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon powder. Mix them well and set them aside.
  3. Now mix the wet ingredients together milk, sugar, and butter. Mix them thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients with yogurt and mix together until combined.
  5. Now add the chopped apples and combine together into the batter. Let it sit for about 20 minutes in the fridge.
  6. Preheat your air fryer at 190C/375F for 2-3 minutes. And place parchment paper on the bottom of the air fryer basket.
  7. Scoop out the apple fritter’s batter and place it into the air fryer basket. Cook them at 190C/375F for 6-7 minutes, and flip them halfway through the cooking process.
  8. Meanwhile, the apple fritters are cooking let’s start making cinnamon glaze.
  9. Take a bowl to add powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon powder. Mix them together until smooth and the glaze is ready.
  10. Take out the apple fritters from the air fryer basket and drizzle them with the cinnamon glaze while they are still warm.
  11. Serve and enjoy.

You can use any apple that is available at your home. However, for the best result you can use these apples:

Tips for making the best apple fritters

  • After cutting the apples make sure to dry them before adding them to the batter. This helps to prevent the apple fritters from getting soggy.
  • Use parchment paper if the batter is too wet.
  • Do not over-mix the batter because the apple fritters will end up tough.
  • Use a spoon or an ice cream scoop if you have to put the batter in the air fryer basket.
  • Let the batter sit in the refrigerator for at least 15-20 minutes before cooking.
