How to make air fryer tofu step by step?
The air fryer tofu recipe meal is easy and delicious. It is healthier than the traditional method of deep-frying.
Ingredients
- 1 block extra firm tofu (8oz)
- 1 tablespoon avocado/vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instruction
- Press the tofu to remove extra moisture. You can place a pan on the tofu and press for 20-30 minutes if needed. I just pressed with the help of a paper towel.
- Preheat your air fryer at 200C/400F for 5 minutes.
- Cut air fryer tofu cubes into ½ inches.
- Take a bowl and combine all the ingredients, oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Give a good mix and add tofu and toss to coat evenly.
- After that put corn starch and give it a good mix.
- Place the seasoned tofu in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook at 200C/400F for 10 minutes. Toss the tofu halfway through the cooking process.
- Remove the crispy air fryer tofu and serve it with your favorite dipping sauce.

Tofu in air fryer Indian Style
If you would like to make Indian-style tofu then you can follow this particular instruction. I love Indian-style dishes, so had to share Indian-style air fryer tofu. If you haven’t tried them you should go for it.
Ingredients
- 1 block extra firm tofu (8oz)
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
The cooking instruction for Indian style tofu is similar to the method explained above.
Air fryer tofu with honey garlic sauce
If you want some gravy or want to try something extra with air fryer tofu then you can make homemade honey garlic sauce and toss the air fryer tofu.
Ingredients for air fryer tofu
- 1 block extra firm tofu (8oz)
- 1 tablespoon avocado/vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Ingredients for honey garlic sauce
- ½ cup chicken broth
- Honey to taste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon ginger ground
- 2 teaspoon garlic minced
- ½ tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoon water
Instruction for making honey garlic sauce
- Take a saucepan and combine chicken broth, honey, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic, over medium heat. Cook for 5-6 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Meanwhile, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and add them to the sauce. Simmer the sauce until it thickens.
- When the tofu is air fried place the tofu in a shallow bowl pour half of the honey garlic sauce and toss.
- Plate and enjoy your tofu with honey garlic sauce.

Is air fryer tofu healthy?
Yes, air-fried tofu is healthier than the traditionally cooked deep-frying. You can make air fryer tofu without oil or very little amount of oil. Consuming less oil is definitely healthy than the food deep-fried in lots of oil.
It is also crispier than the deep-fried ones.
Tips for making perfect air fryer tofu
- Choosing the right tofu: You get different varieties of tofu in the market such as regular, smoked, silken, and extra firm. You should be very careful while choosing tofu. We want our tofu to stay in shape while cooking. For this recipe, you should get extra firm tofu.
- Pressing the tofu: This process is important to get a good result at the end. It helps to remove extra moist/ flavorless liquid from the tofu, helps to retain its shape while cooking, gives tofu a nice and crispy texture. If you don’t press the tofu they may crumble while cooking because they’re very delicate.
- Right Oil: You should always choose an oil with a higher smoke point because it helps tofu to crisp up without burning. You can use oil such as avocado, sunflower seed oil, vegetable oil, peanut oil.
- Marination: You can marinate your tofu right before cooking in the air fryer. But if you want all the good flavor in your air fryer tofu then you should at least marinate your tofu for 15-20 minutes.
- Avoid overcrowding: Place your air fryer tofu cubes in a single layer for the best result. You can cook in batches if you’re cooking in a large amount.

How long do you cook tofu in an air fryer?
You can cook tofu for 10 minutes at 400F. Air fryer cooking time may vary according to the size of tofu you cook and the brand of air fryer you use.
The standard cooking time for air fryer tofu is 10minutes if you want crispier tofu then add a minute or two.
Why is my tofu not crispy?
