Take a small paring knife, make a shallow cut on the back of the shrimp.
Then with the tip of the knife pull out the vine. Vine is a thin string dark in color that is just beneath the surface.
Remove the shells as well.
After that rinse the shrimp and dry them with a paper towel.

The ingredients I used for this hot air fryer shrimp recipe are minimal and most of them are already present in your pantry.
- 1lb Shrimp (medium/ jumbo I have used medium)
- 2 tablespoons oil (olive/vegetable/avocado)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic/ ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and Pepper to taste
How to make air fryer shrimp?
- First of all, start by cleaning the shrimp. Remove the shells and vines, rinse thoroughly and dry them using a paper towel. Follow the above instruction while removing the shells and vines from the shrimp.
- Take a mixing bowl to add oil, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix them well.
- After that add the shrimp into the seasoning mixture and toss them to coat well. You can also brush the seasoning mixture over the shrimp.
- Preheat your air fryer at 200C/400F for 5 minutes.
- Transfer the marinated shrimp in air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook them at 200C/400F for 8-10 minutes. Toss them halfway through the cooking process.
- Remove your air fryer fried shrimp from the basket and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Most of you might be thinking about how to know if the shrimp is done cooking. Here’s how you know if the shrimp is done.
The easy way is to use a thermometer. When the internal temperature of the cooked shrimp hits 115-120F it’s done.
If you’re not using the thermometer, then you should eyeball them. When the shrimp turns pink and red and the flesh is not transparent anymore it’s done.
You need to eyeball air fryer shrimp because you don’t want your shrimp to be overcooked. Because overcooked shrimp becomes rubbery.
