Air fryer chicken cutlets are the most versatile dish to serve your family with their preferred side dishes. In an air fryer, chicken cutlets cook to perfection, turning out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Chicken cutlets that have been thinly sliced are coated with flour and dipped in egg, and bread crumbs before being air-fried. The fact that this dish can be prepared quickly is its best feature.

A cutlet is a thin piece of chicken, pork, veal, or mutton meat. Typically, cutlets are breaded, fried in a pan, and served with some vegetables. French starters frequently include cutlets along with fried bread or pasta. And people started using the recipe and it’s quite popular nowadays.

However, chicken is typically used to make cutlets in American and Canadian cuisine, which are imported from Europe.

How to make air fryer chicken cutlets?

Making these cutlets are super easy and quick. Usually, the cutlass is breaded however, you can also make air fryer chicken cutlets with no breading. You can follow similar steps for both and skip the breading part for no breading cutlets.

Ingredients for air fryer chicken cutlets:

  • 4 chicken cutlets
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons oil/cooking spray
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt/to taste

Instructions for air fryer chicken cutlets:

  1. We will start by seasoning the chicken with salt and pepper. Set them aside.
  2. Take a shallow container to add eggs and whisk. In another container add the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and paprika mix them well until combined. In the last container add the flour.
  3. Preheat your air fryer at 200C/400F for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Now take chicken cutlet and dredge in the flour, tap out the excess. Then dunk in the egg let the excess drip off and finally dip the chicken in the bread crumbs. Press the chicken into the bread crumbs so that they stick to the chicken evenly. Repeat the process for the rest of the cutlets.
  5. Brush a generous amount of oil on the basket and place the chicken cutlets in a single layer. Brush a thin layer of oil over the chicken cutlets.
  6. Cook the chicken cutlets at 200C/400F for 10-15 minutes. Flip the chicken halfway through the cooking process.
  7. Remove the hot and crispy air fryer chicken cutlets from the basket.
  8. Serve and enjoy.

How to cut chicken breast into cutlets?

The chicken breast can easily be sliced into cutlets. You can either buy thinly sliced chicken breast or slice it yourself at home. The best way to chop them at home is shown here, though. Use chicken breasts that are boneless and skinless.

Step one: On the chopping board, place the chicken breast. With one hand, hold the chicken flat in front of you.
Step two: Cut the chicken breast in half lengthwise. Make sure the sizes of the two slices are the same.
Step three: Put the chicken in plastic wrap and pound it with a meat mallet. As a result, the chicken should be ¼ inch thick.

  • Never skip heating up your air fryer before preparing any food.
  • Avoid packing the basket too tightly because this can cause the food to cook unevenly. Keep enough room between the chicken cutlets when using an air fryer so that the hot air can flow freely. This adds lovely crispiness to them.
  • Use your hands to bread the chicken since that’s the easiest way to get the bread crumbs to stick.
  • On the chicken cutlets, generously brush or spray oil. This will help in giving the chicken cutlets a lovely, golden, crispy exterior.
  • To determine when the chicken is finished cooking, use a meat thermometer. Air fryer chicken cutlets are done when the internal temperature hits 165F.
  • Midway through the cooking process, flip the cutlets.

You can, without a doubt. The cutlets should be spread out over a baking sheet and flash frozen until solid. Then, wrap each one in plastic wrap before putting it in a zip-top bag or other freezer-safe containers. For two to three months, please keep them in the freezer.
