The potatoes should be thoroughly cleaned and peeled. You can make cottage fries with or without the potato peel, though peeling is optional.
2-3 potatoes
Cut the potatoes into rounds that are approximately ¼ inch thick.
Put the potatoes in a bowl of water to remove any extra starch, which also helps to keep the potatoes from sticking together while they cook. The recommended 15-20 minutes. You can cook the potatoes right away if you don't have time to wait.
With a fresh kitchen towel or paper towel, pat the potatoes dry.
Add the oil to the potatoes after transferring them to a mixing bowl. Toss the potatoes in the oil to coat each one completely. Sprinkle the potatoes with the combined seasonings.
1 tablespoon vegetable oil, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste
The best way to combine is with your hands.
Preheat the air fryer to 200C/ 400F for 2-3 minutes.
Place the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry them at 200C/400F for 10 minutes. The potatoes should be flipped over and air-fried for an additional 8 minutes, or until golden.
Take the cottage fries out of the basket, serve them with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy.
