We all know how upsetting it is when you’re craving the juicy steak leftover from yesterday’s BBQ, but you don’t want to eat it cold out of the fridge. After all, steak is undoubtedly best when warm. But trying to grill it, heat it in the microwave or even fry it, you end up with a tough, chewy, overly cooked piece of meat.

Lucky for you, we know the best way to reheat steak; in the air fryer. Steak reheated in the air fryer is juicy, tasty and never overcooked. Trust us, once you know how to properly reheat steak in the air dryer, you’ll never do it any other way! Here’s what you need to know.

Why an Air fryer is the best way to reheat steak

We’ve tried and tested every way possible to reheat steak, and a good air fryer comes out on top every time. Of course, there’s nothing like freshly grilled steak fresh off the BBQ. In our charcoal grill review, we found the best grills to get perfect steak every time.

But when there are leftovers, air fryers are the best way to make sure nothing goes to waste.

Speed: Air fryers are quick, which is a huge bonus. Air Fryers work within minutes so you can get stuck into your delicious leftovers. No one wants to wait for steak to reheat in the oven for ages.

Not Overcooked: Using an air fryer means reheating without recooking your steak so it won’t become overcooked and rubbery.

Juicy: An air fryer can help keep all the juices in the steak so it won’t become dry the way it does in a microwave.

Low maintenance: When reheating in an oven, you have to keep an eye on your steak at all times. With an air fryer, you can set the timer and then forget it and prepare the rest of your meal without worrying.

New flavors: letting the steak rest before reheating lets all the flavors settle and keep the steak tasty, furthermore, with an air fryer. It’s easy to add new flavours and seasoning.

A step-by-step guide to reheating steak in the air fryer

So, when you’ve got leftover steak and want to reheat it perfectly every time, here are our step-by-step instructions to get it from your leftovers.

  • Get leftover steak out of the fridge and add any additional seasoning.
  • Let the steak sit at room temperature for 15 minutes
  • Spray steaks with a small amount of oil or rub with butter
  • Preheat air fryer to 350F.
  • Place leftover steak in the air fryer. If you are reheating several pieces, make sure the steaks aren’t touching each other.
  • Allow cooking for 2 minutes (thicker steaks may take longer).
  • Flip the steaks.
  • Check meat temperature with a meat thermometer. When the thickest part of the steak is around 110F, it’s done.
  • Take your steak out and let it rest for two minutes.
  • Enjoy!

Final Thoughts

We love reheating leftover steak in an air fryer because you get delicious, juicy steak every time. An air fryer is quick, easy to use, and means you can add more flavors to your steak. Never throw away leftovers again because you’ve overcooked them while reheating. In fact, air fryer steak is so good you can use an air fryer to cook your steak the first time around.
